All Terrain – 3D Animation of Expedition Camper Trucks

A slick 3D animation of two off-road camper trucks—a 4×4 and a Tatra Phoenix 8×8—showing custom wheels, roof racks, winches, and interiors. Built for adventure and shown in full detail.

The Client

All Terrain Expedition Camper Trucks builds tough, reliable camper trucks made to handle the harshest off-road conditions. Their vehicles are custom-built with features like 4×4 and 8×8 setups, smart storage, and off-grid systems for long trips. They asked 3D Walkabout to help bring their trucks to life with detailed 3D models and animations. This makes it easier for customers to see the design, features, and layout of each vehicle before it’s built.

The Challenge

Creating a 3D animation for two custom expedition trucks—the upgraded 4×4 and the new Tatra Phoenix 8×8—came with a detailed set of client requests and design tweaks. The goal was to clearly show the off-road capabilities and custom modifications, from wheel spacing and guard details to roof racks and rear camping units.

The client provided specific feedback throughout the project, asking for changes like chrome finishes on storage boxes, removal of flashing lights, repositioning of axles, and unique features based on reference vehicles like the Unicat. Getting all these details right in a 3D space, while keeping the animation smooth and visually appealing, required careful planning, modelling, and close communication to bring the rugged look to life.

Our Solution

To bring the expedition trucks to life, we created a detailed 3D animation that showcased all the key features and upgrades requested by the client. Starting with the existing 4×4 model, we added big off-road wheels, adjusted the axles to match a true 4×4 setup, and highlighted key modifications like new roof racks, winches, and chrome storage boxes.

For the new Tatra Phoenix 8×8, we built the model from scratch, using reference images and specs to match the real vehicle. We then added the custom back camping unit, bike rack, spare wheel, and exterior features based on the client’s notes. A smooth exterior flyaround highlighted the rugged build, while a detailed interior flythrough showed off the bespoke camper layout.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with the client, making regular updates based on their feedback. The final animation clearly presented both vehicles in a professional and engaging way, helping the client showcase their custom work with confidence.

Updated the existing 4×4 model with big off-road wheels, adjusted axles, and custom roof

Included a custom camping unit and bike rack on the back of the 8×8 to match the client’s vision

Built the Tatra Phoenix 8×8 truck from scratch, based on client references and real-world specs

Used smooth flyaround and flythrough animations to show off both the exterior and interior upgrades

The features like chrome-finished storage boxes, winches, and a spare wheel

Worked closely with the client at every stage, updating the animation to match their detailed feedback
