TSA Riley | Matterport Virtual Tour of Aged Care Facilities

3D Walkabout captured fully operational aged care buildings for TSA Riley using Matterport, creating a private, user-friendly virtual tour with custom menus and optional aerial 360° views.

The Client

TSA Riley is a building consultancy firm based in Sydney, offering expert services in building surveying, certification, and compliance. They work across residential, commercial, and public sector projects, helping clients navigate regulatory requirements and ensure quality outcomes.

 

The Challenge

TSA Riley required a full Matterport capture of two operational aged-care buildings, Ann Walsh and Novitiate, while both facilities remained fully occupied by residents. This created a uniquely complex environment for scanning, as photography needed to be completed without disrupting daily routines, care activities, or the privacy of tenants. The project demanded detailed coordination with the onsite facilities manager, including pre-planning discussions and live supervision during scanning to ensure each area could be cleared and prepared before the camera team arrived.

With three to four days required onsite, both internal and external spaces had to be captured efficiently, safely, and with minimal disturbance. The final deliverable needed to combine both buildings into a single, intuitive virtual tour with a custom menu system, making navigation simple for stakeholders reviewing the property. Drone 360° captures were also proposed to extend the tour into the air, adding another layer of logistical planning around weather, permissions and site operations. Delivering a seamless, user-friendly model, despite the active environment, was the core challenge of this project.

Our Solution

We started by working closely with the facilities manager to plan the shoot around resident routines, agreeing on scan dates, access order and who would help clear each area. This meant our team could move efficiently through Ann Walsh and Novitiate while keeping disruption to a minimum. Across several days onsite, we used a Matterport Pro 3 camera to capture all key internal and external spaces, coordinating in real time to ensure rooms and corridors were tenant-free before each scan.

The data was then combined into a single, user-friendly virtual tour with a simple menu system so viewers can jump between buildings and key zones quickly. The final model is hosted online via Matterport, giving TSA Riley an easy-to-share link for stakeholders, compliance, training and future operational use, with the option to extend the experience using integrated aerial 360° views.
