DPIRD SIFT Centre | Interactive Matterport 3D Tour

3D Walkabout created an interactive Matterport 3D tour of DPIRD’s SIFT Centre, featuring 55 markers that showcase key insights and details in an engaging virtual experience.

The Client

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is a Western Australian government agency that supports the growth and sustainability of the state’s agriculture, fisheries, and regional industries. It plays a key role in driving economic development across WA’s regional areas

The Challenge

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) engaged us to create a detailed Matterport 3D tour of their SIFT Centre to support accessibility and engagement. The project required more than a simple walkthrough,  it needed to feature 55 interactive markers to deliver extra layers of educational and informative content.

The main challenge was ensuring the site was captured in high detail while managing the technical requirements of multiple interactive markers without compromising performance. At the same time, the final tour needed to be seamlessly embedded into DPIRD’s website, offering users an intuitive and professional digital experience.

Our Solution

The 3D Walkabout team conducted a high-precision Matterport scan of the SIFT Centre, ensuring that every detail of the facility was captured accurately. To enhance the digital experience, 55 interactive markers were strategically embedded throughout the tour, allowing users to access additional information on hover. These markers were carefully designed to provide educational and informative content while maintaining smooth navigation and usability.

To meet DPIRD’s accessibility goals, the completed 3D tour was integrated seamlessly into their website through a simple embed code. This ensured that stakeholders and the wider community could easily explore the space online. By combining technical accuracy with interactive features, the solution transformed the site into an engaging digital tool that supports both learning and stakeholder engagement.
