Mayur Resources | 3D Mine Site Render Visualisation
3D Walkabout created a 3D mine site render for Mayur Resources in PNG, showcasing terrain, ships, and infrastructure with accuracy and detail.
The Client
Mayur Resources is an Australian-based company delivering sustainable resource and renewable projects across PNG and the Asia-Pacific. Its subsidiary, Pacific Lime & Cement (PLC), is advancing lime and cement manufacturing to meet regional demand. Together, they’re driving growth while supporting local communities and the environment.
The Challenge
Mayur Resources engaged us to produce large-scale mine site renders from a 3.15 GB Navisworks model, but the FBX was stubborn: repeated import failures, suspected corruption, and no usable layers meant we had to learn-and-hack Navisworks on the fly and export the site in many smaller parts. Once inside our pipeline, gaps appeared (missing meshes/open cut area), and the client required terrain aligned to exact PNG coordinates, aerial imagery visible on the landscape, and realistic port logistics (no small boats, two Handymax vessels positioned for dual loading).
Visual fidelity also demanded tuning scatter vegetation (colour/density), switching to the correct GeoSky HDRI, blending texture seams, and keeping scene names consistent across versions. On top of that, we needed to add village buildings and a rugby field, incorporate a scale bar variant, and keep performance stable while iterating quickly in Blender ↔ D5.
Our Solution
To overcome these challenges, we broke down the massive Navisworks model into smaller exports, which could then be imported successfully into Blender and D5 Render. Missing elements were identified and remodelled, while the terrain was carefully aligned with the provided PNG site coordinates. Aerial satellite imagery was applied directly to the landscape, ensuring geographic accuracy, and vegetation scattering was refined for colour, density, and realism.
We introduced large-scale Handymax vessels at the wharf to reflect real-world operations and removed smaller, unrealistic boats. Additional features such as village housing, a rugby field, and accurate road networks were integrated into the scene. Lighting was tuned with GeoSky HDRI to achieve natural atmospherics, while fog, waves, and texture blending added depth and immersion. Finally, multiple versions were delivered with and without the scale bar, along with consistent scene naming, ensuring the client had clear, polished outputs ready for presentation.
Broke down the massive Navisworks FBX into smaller exports for smooth import into Blender and D5 Render
Remodelled missing elements and aligned terrain with the correct PNG site coordinates
Refined vegetation, lighting, fog, and textures, plus delivered multiple versions with and without a scale bar
Added Handymax vessels at the wharf while removing smaller, unrealistic boats
Integrated extra details such as village housing, a rugby field, and accurate road networks
Applied aerial satellite imagery to enhance landscape realism and accuracy
