The Client

Arkos Architects is a Queensland-based architectural practice dedicated to creating purposeful, innovative, and well-crafted spaces. The firm combines design creativity with technical precision to deliver architectural solutions that balance functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability across residential and commercial projects.

The Challenge

In September 2025, 3D Walkabout was approached by Oskar Booth from an Architecture & Design firm seeking professional 3D Matterport scanning and CAD file creation for a new property project. The client required a detailed digital capture of the site to support design documentation, client presentations, and spatial analysis.

The main challenge was ensuring accurate measurements and visual clarity across both interior and exterior spaces while accommodating potential site conditions such as PPE requirements, restricted access, and lighting limitations. Clear communication was essential to define scope, including space size, scan logistics, Mattertag usage, and CAD file outputs, before scheduling the scan and final delivery. This project required careful coordination to produce a high-resolution digital twin suitable for both interactive visualisation and precise architectural documentation within a short turnaround window.

Our Solution

To meet the client’s needs, 3D Walkabout provided a tailored Matterport 3D scanning and CAD delivery solution designed for architectural precision and fast turnaround. Our team began by gathering all essential project details,  including floor plans, access permissions, and site conditions, to plan the scanning session efficiently. Using state-of-the-art LiDAR-equipped Matterport technology, we captured the property in full detail, producing a high-quality digital twin that accurately reflected every space.

The scans were processed to generate both the interactive virtual tour and exported CAD-compatible files, enabling the client to integrate the data directly into their architectural workflows. The virtual tour was enhanced with optional Mattertags for easy navigation and information display, while all deliverables were formatted for cross-platform use. The result was a seamless, end-to-end 3D capture workflow that gave the client both visual engagement and technical precision, delivered within 48 hours of completion.
