3D Visualisation of Luleå Lithium Refinery Development
3D Visualisation delivered high-quality H3 Cube’s modern home designs, showcasing architectural detail, materials, and layout to support marketing, design approval, and off-the-plan sales.
The Client
Talga Group is an Australian technology minerals company focused on developing sustainable graphite and battery materials. With operations in both Australia and Europe, Talga supports the global transition to clean energy through advanced anode production and resource innovation.
The Challenge
Talga required a visual communication strategy to support the development and public understanding of their proposed lithium refinery. The project had to be delivered in three stages, each with evolving levels of detail. Initially, no technical drawings were available—only a conceptual brief to spark stakeholder interest. Later phases involved incorporating detailed architectural plans and accurately showcasing the full-scale industrial plant, including its function and integration within the surrounding site. All this had to be achieved while coordinating with a partner agency in Sweden and ensuring the visuals met both public and technical communication goals.
Our Solution
3D Walkabout developed a phased 3D visualisation strategy tailored to each stage of the project’s evolution.
Phase 1 involved conceptualising a fictional but realistic factory design from the ground up using SketchUp for initial massing and layout, and Blender for detailed modelling and texturing. These visuals were aimed at generating public interest and communicating the early vision in an accessible format
Phase 2 expanded on the initial concept, refining architectural details and expanding the plant’s scope to align with updated plans
Phase 3 transitioned into high-fidelity production using actual technical drawings. We modelled the full facility in Blender and Sketchup, built the environmental context and rendered cinematic animations in Unreal Engine. These final outputs visualised not only the physical infrastructure but also illustrated the lithium refinement process and spatial integration with the Luleå Industrial Park
Throughout all phases, we collaborated closely with Swedish agency MBMC, ensuring that the visuals were both technically accurate and culturally contextualised for the local audience.
